The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is a new SUV that is fairly close to the CX-5 in terms of size but very different in terms of personality. Here is what you should know about it.
An adventurous SUV
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is the most adventurous and rugged model in the Mazda lineup due to its style and its capabilities, especially in the Meridian version. The CX-50 benefits from added ground clearance when compared with the CX-5, and the top-of-the-line version is dedicated to off-road driving with its standard all-terrain tires, available black roof bars, available rooftop platform, piano black front grille, matte black hood decal, plastic wheel arch cladding, as well as front and rear mud flaps. The general design of the CX-50 is also geared toward drivers who want something more special than other five-passenger SUVs can offer.
A refined cabin
Even if the exterior of the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is rugged and adventurous, its cabin is refined and comfortable, featuring all of the equipment buyers want in this segment. Features such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 7-inch screen in the instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, LED headlamps and interior lamps, a powered liftgate, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Mazda Connected Services are standard on all CX-50 models. Choosing the GT or Meridian models also adds items such as a heads-up display, heated rear seats, Homelink, ventilated front seats, a Bose sound system, and a wireless phone charger.
Two powerful and efficient engines
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 can be powered by two 2.5L Skyactiv four-cylinder engines that combine performance and fuel economy. The standard unit found under the hood of the GS-L and GT models is a naturally aspirated version that delivers 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque while the turbocharged version available in the GT and standard in the Meridian generates up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and the standard i-Activ all-wheel drive system.
